The third season of TV series Heroes will wow fans, according to its star Milo Ventimiglia.

“It’s going to melt your head,” the actor told Access Hollywood.

“Everybody took a big break and scattered and did a lot of different jobs and when we came back together we reconvened and we were reading these first couple of scripts - they were just incredible. It was right back to that excitement of the first season.”

The second season of the show was criticised in some sections of the media before the actors were forced to take a hiatus during the Hollywood writers’ strike - the season ended prematurely in the US in December. The cast returned to begin filming the third season earlier this month.

“We’re so excited to be back - it’s amazing,” said Ali Larter, who plays Niki Sanders in the show.

“The scripts are incredible. We’re sneaking into make-up trailers trying to get the new ones. As difficult as the strike was, I think it gave a surge of creativity to our writers.”

I will not be posting any spoilers, but here is some general information about the upcoming season:

25 episodes are planned.
The thirteen episodes which make up volume three, ‘Villians’, will be released before the Winter hiatus.
Expect season three to model season one, only at a much faster pace.
Chaos theory will be a strong theme in season three.

According to movieweb.com, NBC is planning to air original webisodes of Heroes starting in July. There is no word if Hayden and/or Milo will be in any of the episodes.

NBC is planning to air original webisodes of Chuck, The Office, and Heroes on the Internet. According to Variety, more NBC shows will then soon follow suite starting with 30 Rock.

NBC Digital Entertainment’s Vivi Zigler stated, “We’re incredibly lucky to have such collaborative writers, producers and actors to work with.” The Office had previously run a successful series of webisodes that were dubbed The Accountants, featuring many of the cast members. But when residuals from web content became an issue, the series quit producing its original webisodes.

NBC’s Ben Silverman stated, “The strike did resolve our issues with our chief creative partners. Now we have terms of business with them, we can do webisodes, integration. We’re able to talk to them without the elephant in the room. We can create with them openly and freely.”

The webisodes are currently being produced for web broadcasting this July.

It was announced a couple days ago that Heroes would be returning on September 15th with a three hour event.  The night will start with a one hour recap episode followed by the two hour season premiere.  Only five months to go……
